Color and shape without fear.

Hello, I’m Lydia! Since the beginning of time, humans have been making marks. We are born to be free; free from shame and fear. After years of social conditioning and learned helplessness, we lose this freedom. I regain that freedom through making marks. I find strength and numb pain through painting. No two works are ever the same; just as no two sunsets are ever identical. I hope you enjoy my process, and I hope you have something of your own that gives you strength.

I received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from Northwest College of Art and Design in 2012. I double majored in art and design. Since then I have been instructing paint classes in Alaska and actively playing with paint. I am currently fascinated by landscapes and texture, and am exploring gel mediums to achieve dimension. I see design as a fundamental building block for life. Although my shapes are free and asymmetrical, they are intentionally placed and thoughtfully curated.
