What's Your Favorite Color?

I work in an elementary school, and this is a topic that comes up a lot. Such a burning question…and don’t you dare answer incorrectly. The tragedy and loss on a 5 year old’s face when they want to change their answer is priceless. The disaster of proclaiming the wrong color! Oh no! I’ll never be able to change my answer! Anyways…here’s mine:

Ultramarine. The love I have for this pigment is out of this world. The richness, the peace, the clarity, the emotion- this color has it all for me. If I could dive into a pool of this color and live there forever I would. Whenever I swim in the ocean, I feel at peace. It is my home. One of my favorite things to do is float on my back, take a deep breath, and then sink. Sink deeply and softly into the purple blue green depths. Then just as I can’t hold my breath anymore do a somersault and swim back up! This color is that feeling.
